Are you looking for the synthesizer sounds of the eighties? Sonicprojects has released the fantastic sounding OP-X-PRO-II synthesizer. The vst plugin is an enhanced version of the OP-X-PRO, an emulation of the analog Oberheim OB-Xa. The OP-X-PRO-II can also emulate sounds of other classic synthesizers, for example the Roland Jupiter or the Moog.

Sonicprojects has made lots of improvements to their flagship synthesizer. The software developer has added an effects section (reverb, delay), a new patch browser and arpeggiator, a self oscillating filter, bright mode for the filter section, 6, 8 and 12 voice polyphony, midi learn and new waveforms for the LFO. Mac users can now use an adapted version for the free VFX application from SM Pro Audio. Unfortunately there is no plugin version available for Mac OS (for sequencer integration).

The OP-X-PRO-II sounds great. More than 1,500 patches are included, separated in 32 banks. New patches are added to the (enhanced) patches of the previous OP-X versions. You can listen to a selection of the patches in the audio clips section on the website. Check out the sometimes hilarious Famous Bank (I Want to Break Free), or download a demo for testing purposes.

OP-X-PRO-II is available now against the introduction price of $159 (€ 116). For more information visit the Sonicprojects website.
