Video: programmeer interessante drums in Ableton Live

Professor Nalepa van Dubspot laat in de onderstaande video zien hoe je interessante drums kunt programmeren in Ableton Live. Hij volgt een concept waarbij iedere tweede, vierde en achtste maat een kleine variatie krijgt. Het concept is overigens ook prima toepasbaar in iedere andere sequencer.
Dupspot’s Professor Nalepa explains how to program interesting drums in Ableton Live in the video below. He follows a concept in which every second, fourth and eighth bar gets a little variation. This concept is also well used in any other sequencer.

Studio 80 organiseert op 26 mei aanstaande de TWSTD Producers Masterclass in Amsterdam. Tijdens deze producers masterclass staat de sequencer Ableton Live centraal. De masterclass is gericht op zowel beginnende als gevorderde Ableton Live-gebruikers, en wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met TWSTd, Ableton, Pyntago en Media Satellite.Studio 80 organizes the TWSTD Producers Masterclass in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on May 26th. DJ Lucky Date: “White noise is je vriend”

White noise (witte ruis) lijkt niet het meest sexy geluid, maar volgens DJ Lucky Date is het je beste vriend bij het maken van epische dancemuziek voor in de club. Dat zegt de producer op het online-seminar van Propellerhead Software in het kader van de Music Making Month. In de onderstaande video legt hij uit hoe je white noise kunt toepassen in een track, en hoe je het ultieme white noise-geluid kunt maken in Reason.White noise (white noise) does not seem the sexiest sound, but according to DJ Lucky Date it is your best friend while making epic dance music for clubs. The producer says this during the online seminar of Propellerhead’s Music Making Month. In the video below he explains how you can apply white noise to a track, and how to make the ultimate white noise sound in Reason.

Video: maak een mooie housebeat met loops

In deze video laat Craig Williams zien hoe je een housebeat kunt maken met behulp van een groot aantal loops die hij vooraf heeft geselecteerd. Van iedere loop gebruikt hij slechts een gedeelte, het overige wordt weggegooid. Hij werkt met Logic, maar natuurlijk kan dit ook in je eigen favoriete sequencer. In this video Craig Williams shows how you can make a house beat with a large number of pre selected loops. He only uses parts of the loops, the rest of the audio will be deleted. Williams works with Logic, but of course you can use your favorite sequencer.

Propellerhead Software publiceert deze maand veel workshops in het kader van de Music Making Month. In de onderstaande video laat productspecialist Mattias Häggström Gerdt zien hoe je snel een songidee kunt genereren door creatief om te gaan met loops. Hij gebruikt (uiteraard) Propellerhead Record/Reason, maar dit kan natuurlijk ook met elke andere sequencer.Propellerhead Software publishes many workshops this month as part of the Making Music Month. De oprichters van Propellerhead Software Ernst Nathorst-Böös, Marcus Zetterquist en Pelle Jubel houden vanaf vanmiddag 16 uur de eerste live-videoconferentie over de toekomst van muziekmaken. Geregistreerde gebruikers kunnen chatten en vragen stellen.Today Propellerhead launched the Music Making Month. This afternoon the founders of Propellerhead Software Ernst Nathorst-Böös, Marcus Zetterquist and Pelle Jubel started the first live video conference on the future of music. Max for Live: Monolake Granulator

In deze video toont Robert Henke (alias Monolake) zijn Monolake Granulator voor Max for Live. Henke is als een van de oprichters van Ableton nauw betrokken bij Max for Live, een modulair pakket voor Ableton Live. Het pakket is in de maand april in de aanbieding als onderdeel van de Live Suite en voor Live-gebruikers die geabonneerd zijn op de e-mailnieuwsbrief van Ableton. Het is interessant om te zien en horen wat de mogelijkheden zijn van granular synthese, waarbij geluid wordt gemaakt van een heel klein stukje audio.In this video Robert Henke (alias Monolake) shows his Monolake Granulator for Max for Live. Henke is one of the founders of Ableton and closely involved with the development of Max for Live, a modular package for Ableton Live. In the month April there is a special offer for Ableton Live Suite with Max for Live. It is interesting to see and hear the possibilities of granular synthesis, where sound is made from a very small audio sample.

De Novation Launchpad kun je gebruiken als een step-sequencer in Ableton Live. Novation heeft daarvoor een patch uitgebracht voor gebruikers van (het prijzige) Max for Live, maar met een beetje creativiteit kan dit ook zonder Max for Live. De Belgische minimal techno en elektro-artiest Aurex DJ heeft hiervoor een viertal oplossingen bedacht, en biedt deze aan op zijn website.

Image-Line heeft FL Studio 10 gelanceerd. Naast een flink aantal verbeteringen aan bestaande onderdelen beschikt de sequencer nu met Newtone en Pitcher over tools voor toonhoogtecorrectie en het creëren van harmonieën. Voor Newtone en Pitcher moet je extra betalen, maar door de Pay What You Want-actie hoeft dat niet veel te kosten.Image Line has launched FL Studio 10. Besides a large number of improvements to existing units, the sequencer now has tools for pitch correction and creating harmonies with Newton and Pitcher. You need to pay extra for these tools, but the Pay What You Want-offer does not make it necessarily expensive.
